Advaita Academy celebrated Shankara Jayanti 2021 by organizing the 2nd Edition of Global Festival of Oneness, from May 17 to June 16th. As part of the festival we featured talks by around 60 Scholars, Sages, and Seekers to share about Shankara’s life, works and influence across multiple dimensions that include Philosophy, Oneness, Leadership and more.

On Day 15, Evening session : Prof. B Mahadevan spoke on the topic "In Pursuit of Happiness – Insights from Advaita Vedanta". He mentioned that there is a difference between ‘In search of Happiness’ and ‘In Pursuit of happiness’. Vedanta has been saying that the happiness that we are searching for is already in us. But we pursue happiness, thinking that it is outside of us. The upanishads have proclaimed that the true nature of our reality is pure bliss and happiness. It is only because of our ignorance that we do not experience it.

Prof B. Mahadevan is a professor of Operations Management at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, where he has been teaching since 1992. Professor Mahadevan’s research interests include researching the possibility of using ancient Indian wisdom to address contemporary concerns, spirituality in the workplace, and management paradigms from Bhagavad Gita.
